FR8 208 Recap

ATLANTA MOTOR SPEEDWAY

Start: 10th | Finish: 6th | Driver Points: 7th | Owner Points: 7th

Race Recap: A rainy day at Atlanta Motor Speedway Friday washed out practice and qualifying for the Craftsman Truck Series. Matt DiBenedetto lined up 10th for the FR8 208 in a field set by the 2023 NASCAR Rule Book.

Once the green flag flew, the No. 25 quickly moved through the field and into the top five. DiBenedetto stayed out under the first yellow with less than 10 laps remaining and ended stage one in fifth following a two-lap shootout to end the stage.

After a quick caution to begin stage two, the field remained green through the remainder of the stage, and despite dropping as low as 15th, DiBenedetto recovered to finish stage two in 11th.

Another trip down pit road a slight wedge adjustment to counter a slightly tight truck saw the No. 25 off of pit road quickly, allowing DiBenedetto to restart on the front row. Restarting on the inside line, he dropped back just outside the top 20 with little help from others on the track.

Despite a flurry of cautions and a few close calls in the latter part of stage three, DiBenedetto emerged from overtime with a season-best sixth-place finish. He gained one spot in the championship standings an now sits seventh, 28 points behind leader Christian Eckes.
