Buckle Up South Carolina 200 Recap

DARLINGTON RACEWAY

Start: 7th | Finish: 25th | Driver Points: 11th | Owner Points: 13th

Race Recap: Matt DiBenedetto finished 25th at Darlington Raceway after fuel pressure issues plagued him for much of the second half of the Craftsman Truck Series race Friday night.

After starting seventh, DiBenedetto worked his way through the field steadily before ultimately ending a caution-free stage one in third, collecting eight stage points in the process. A pit stop for four tires and fuel saw the driver of the No. 25 restart fifth.

Once again, stage two went caution free, and with just a handful of laps remaining before the stage break, DiBenedetto reported fuel pressure issues. Once pit road opened after stage two ended, the team went to work to diagnose the problem.

Stage three brought with a handful a cautions and better fuel pressure, allowing DiBenedetto to regain track position he’d lost while the team diagnosed the issue earlier. With around 30 laps remaining, a strong pit stop moved him from 15th to 13th and in position to finish around the top 10.

Despite having a fast truck, the fuel pressure issues popped up once again inside 20 laps remaining. DiBendetto went a lap down to the field and stayed there through two overtime finishes to end the race 25th.
